    Hosting BAT (The Behavior Analyst Today) which we cherish and will forever support, is just the beginning of what we are sure will quickly become a world wide resource for accurate and up to the minute dissemination of information about behavior analysis. We firmly believe that we can become unrivaled in this endeavor.

Membership Levels

Level 1 Unregistered:

    Each participant is not required to become a member, but an unregistered individual in the community has little in the way of privileges. Essentially the unregistered can read posts that others make in the community and little else.

What is registration?

    Registering on the community means signing up as a member of the community with your own login username and password. When you register, you get a unique screen name of your choice that no one else can use, and will have a whole new range of privileges and community features at your disposal. Some of the benefits of registration include sending and receiving private messages, getting e-mails to let you know of new posts, tallying your posts, and subscribing to any e-mail newsletters distributed through the community. So if you want to participate regularly in community discussions, you really should register.

Level 2 Member:

    An individual becomes a "Member" when they sign up to the site using the membership link. Members may read, reply, and post new topics and additionally have access to the following features:

1. View topic index page
2. Use form e-mailer
3. Vote in polls
4. Participate in chats
5. Use avatars
6. Use signatures
7. Access user centre
8. Use private messaging
9. Access subtopic subscriptions page
10. Manage own newsletter subscriptions
11. Edit own profile
12. Auto-approve own posts
13. Edit own messages
 

Level 3 Senior Member:

    An individual becomes a "Senior Member" when they have been a member for at least six months posted at least 500 messages to the community, successfully invited 10 new members to the community and have been voted into the position by the polling membership. Senior Members may read, reply, post new topics, and in addition they have access to the following features:

1. View topic index page
2. Use form e-mailer
3. Vote in polls
4. Participate in chats
5. Use avatars
6. Use signatures7. Set own user titles
8. Access user centre
9. Use private messaging
10. Access subtopic subscriptions page
11. Manage own newsletter subscriptions
12. Edit own profile
13. Auto-approve own posts
14. Edit own messages
15. Moderate all subtopics and messages

VIP Membership:

    A "VIP" (Very Important Person) is a member who is nominated and voted into the position by the polling membership. This decision is based on the merits of this individuals contributions to the science of "behavior analysis" not necessarily their individual contributions to the BAO.ORG community. The VIP is an asset to the community as they are the leading researchers and scholars and noted experts in behavior analysis. It is their guidance and knowledge on these subjects that we seek and we hold them in special honor as contributing members of the BAO.ORG community. VIP's may read, reply, post new topics, and in addition they have access to the following features:

2. Use form e-mailer
3. Vote in polls
4. Participate in chats
5. Use avatars
6. Use signatures
7. Set own user titles
8. Access user centre
9. Use private messaging
10. Access subtopic subscriptions page
11. Manage own newsletter subscriptions
12. Edit own profile
13. Auto-approve own posts (turn off to enforce pre-moderation on entire user group)
14. Edit own messages
15. Moderate all subtopics and messages
16. Create advertisements
17. Create user polls
 

Who are these moderator people?

    Moderators are special users tasked with keeping the community in order. They patrol the community for offensive material, inappropriate posts, or heated arguments that need some mediation. They have various powers to edit and delete posts, lock and condemn subtopics to halt discussion, and move posts to more appropriate topics. Moderators are the backbone of the community.

Can I be a moderator?

    Moderators tend to be the most senior members of the community and those who have contributed much to the growth and well being of the community. Users are invited to become moderators rather than applying for such status.

Moderator:

An individual becomes a "Moderator" when they have been a member for at least one year,  posted at least 1000 messages to the community, successfully invited 20 new members to the community, and have been voted into the position by the polling membership.  Moderators may read, reply, post new topics, and in addition they have access to the following features:

1. View topic index page
2. Use form e-mailer
3. Vote in polls
4. Participate in chats
5. Use avatars
6. Use signatures
7. Set own user titles
8. Access user centre
9. Use private messaging
10. Access subtopic subscriptions page
11. Manage own newsletter subscriptions
12. Edit own profile
13. Auto-approve own posts
14. Post in locked subtopics
15. Edit own messages
16. Moderate all subtopics and messages
17. Create user polls
18. Send bulk e-mail through mailing list (Not for solicitation of any type)
19. Moderate profiles of all users
20. Own profile cannot be moderated by others
